The Auline monks are an alchemic religious order, who worship the Goddess of Plenty, Au*. They live solitary, ascetic lives, seldom leaving the monastery walls.
Young adults from across the region, who show a talent for natural alchemy (natural alchemy being more akin to magic than science in this case) are sent to the monastery to pray and to train, usually for decades, to hone their skills, with the end view to mastering curation of the purest gold.
Rising through the ranks, the monks may eventually reach sufficient level to join the Auline Circle, who can connect to the Netherworld Elders in a centuries old ritual, involving the sacrifice of large amounts of gold in exchange for peace and trade.
The monastery is old, but well fortified; a necessity given the vast amounts of gold usually stored in it’s vaults, and the frequent heist attempts by many criminal factions. It is built from modest stone, as to reflect the monks’ frugal lifestyle, with a banner of white and gold.
